Pittsburgh Pirates
Lopez signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 2, 2018 for a $400,000 signing bonus. He made his professional debut in 2019 with the Dominican Summer League Pirates, playing in 47 games and hitting.341/.404/.485 with two home runs, 33 RBI, and five stolen bases. Lopez did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.Lopez made 98 appearances for the Single-A Bradenton Marauders during the 2021 season, slashing.258/.341/.393 with 10 home runs and 64 RBI. He played in 102 games for the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2022, hitting.286/.329/.476 with career-highs in home runs, RBI, and stolen bases. On March 17, 2023, the Pirates announced that Lopez would miss the entirety of the 2023 season after dislocating his knee in an offseason workout session.
