Controversies
Regulatory note
In February 2021, New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority issued a consumer notice clarifying that although CompareForexBrokers had released a press statement about its broker comparisons, the service is neither regulated nor endorsed by the FMA, and readers should exercise caution.Legal dispute
In 2018, CompareForexBrokers became involved in a shareholder dispute with Australian entrepreneur Adir Shiffman, who held a minority stake in the company through BBHF Pty Ltd and briefly served as a director. Shiffman alleged he was excluded from key decisions, claiming minority shareholder oppression. The matter was settled confidentially later that year, with no terms made public. The dispute resurfaced in 2024 during Shiffman’s separate litigation against mattress company Sleeping Duck, when the Supreme Court of Victoria referenced the 2018 CompareForexBrokers case as an earlier example of shareholder conflict.
