Changnyeong-eup


Changnyeong-eup is a town in the administrative county of Changnyeong, South [Gyeongsang Province], in South Korea.
The town is Changnyeong county's administrative, business, and traffic center where most of the farm produce is bought and sold. It is nearly in the center of the county and is accessible via the Seoul-Busan expressway and national roads 5 and 24.
Changnyeong Town contains many national treasures and is situated in the middle of Changnyeong county's three major tourist attractions, Upo wetland, Bugok natural hotsprings, and Hwawang mountain.

Changnyeong is located in the central eastern part of Changnyeong county, with Miryang and Muan township to the east, Goam township to the north, Daeji township and Yueo township to the west, and Kyeseong township to the south.
The eastern part of the town is mountainous beginning with Mount Hwawang. The western part of the town has a hot and humid climate and is made up of rolling plains which are used for cultivating rice, onions, garlic, and peppers.

  • 757: Silla King GyeongDeok Reigned for 16 years and called Changnyeong Eubne township in Hwawang county
  • 940: Koryeo's first King Wang Geon 왕건 Taejo : Changed the county name to Changnyeong county 창녕군 읍내면
  • 1914 April 1: Goam township Doya village, was incorporated
  • 1918 January 1 : Eubne township was renamed to Changnyeong township
  • 1955 July 1 : Changnak township and Changnyeong township were merged
  • 1960 January 1 : Changnyeong township was designated as a town
