The mountain is set in the Never Summer Wilderness on land managed by Arapaho National Forest. It is situated along the Continental Divide with the summit offset by less than one mile. Precipitation runoff from the mountain's slopes drains to the nearby Colorado River via Willow Creek and Bowen Gulch. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above Willow Creek in and above Bowen Gulch in. The mountain's toponym has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names.ClimateAccording to the Köppen climate classification system, Cascade Mountain is located in an alpine subarctic climate zone with cold, snowy winters, and cool to warm summers. Due to its altitude, it receives precipitation all year, as snow in winter, and as thunderstorms in summer, with a dry period in late spring.
