Capinópolis
Capinópolis is a municipality in the west of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. the population was 16,234 in a total area of. It became a municipality in 1953. The name means "city of grass".
Geography
Capinópolis is located at an elevation of 545 meters 30 km. south of the ParanaÃba River and the Cachoeira Dourada Hydroelectric Station. It belongs to the statistical microregion of Ituiutaba. Neighboring municipalities are Canápolis, Cachoeira Dourada, Ipiaçu e ItuiutabaDistances

Economic activities
The most important economic activities are cattle raising, commerce, and agriculture. The GDP in 2005 was R$193,698,000. Capinópolis is in the top tier of municipalities in the state with regard to economic and social development.
