Biola, California


Biola is a census-designated place in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 1,427 at the 2020 census, down from 1,623 at the 2010 census. Biola is located north-northeast of Kerman, at an elevation of 253 feet.

History

Biola was founded by William Kerchoff in 1912. The name was an acronym of the "Bible Institute of Los Angeles". A post office operated in Biola from 1912 to 1918, and from 1920 to the present.

2020 census

The 2020 United States census reported that Biola had a population of 1,427. The population density was. The racial makeup of Biola was 316 White, 3 African American, 46 Native American, 120 Asian, 3 Pacific Islander, 725 from other races, and 214 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1,243 persons.
The whole population lived in households. There were 333 households, out of which 181 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 155 were married-couple households, 17 were cohabiting couple households, 104 had a female householder with no partner present, and 57 had a male householder with no partner present. 53 households were one person, and 28 were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 4.29. There were 272 families.
The age distribution was 519 people under the age of 18, 167 people aged 18 to 24, 353 people aged 25 to 44, 273 people aged 45 to 64, and 115 people who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 26.2years. For every 100 females, there were 97.1 males.
