Baby Rose
Jasmine Rose Wilson, known professionally as Baby Rose, is an American singer. As of 2024, she is signed with the record label Secretly Canadian.
Early life
Jasmine Rose Wilson was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. At age nine, she got a piano and started recording songs in her adolescent years. Her family realized her talent when she was 12, and started recording songs in the studio.Career
After the release of her mixtape From Dusk 'til Dawn in 2017, Baby Rose gained attention, receiving co-signs from artists such as SZA, Kehlani, and J. Cole. In 2019, she was featured on projects like Matt Martian's The Last Party, Big K.R.I.T.'s K.R.I.T. Iz Here, and Dreamville's Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation. In 2019, she went on the Shea Butter Baby tour with Ari Lennox.She released her debut album To Myself on August 22, 2019, which was distributed by Human Re Sources. In a 2020 Harper's Bazaar feature, Baby Rose expressed that her debut album, resonates as more than just an introduction to her music but also an of embrace her individuality. On May 31, 2020, a remix of her song "Show You" was featured on Episode 8, "Lowkey Happy", of the fourth season of HBO's Insecure. In September 2020, the deluxe version of the album was released by Island Records.
In April 2023, Rose released her second studio album, Through and Through, via Secretly Canadian. The record was praised for its intimate songwriting and soulful vocal delivery, further establishing her as a distinct voice in contemporary R&B. Critics highlighted the album’s blend of vulnerability and strength, with outlets like NPR and Pitchfork commending its raw emotional depth and sonic cohesion. To support the album, Rose embarked on a headlining tour across the United States, performing at venues such as the Troubadour in Los Angeles and Bowery Ballroom in New York City.
The following year, she collaborated with Canadian band BadBadNotGood on the EP Slow Burn, released in April 2024. The project received critical acclaim for its Muscle Shoals–inspired warmth, analog production, and Rose’s evocative performance style. She subsequently toured domestically with BadBadNotGood, including a stop in Toronto, before joining Vince Staples as the special guest on his Black in America Tour. In addition, Rose announced a West Coast headlining run for fall 2025, continuing to expand her presence as one of the most compelling voices in modern soul.
Film and Soundtrack Contributions
In 2023, Baby Rose co-wrote and performed the closing track "Heavy Is the Head" on the soundtrack for Creed III, released by Dreamville and Interscope.In 2025, she made her on-screen debut in the film Materialists, appearing as a wedding singer, and contributed the songs "I’ll Be Your Mirror" and "That’s All" to the film’s official soundtrack, both released on June 13, 2025.
