Antonia Salzano
Antonia Salzano is the mother of Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old English-born Italian who died from acute leukemia in 2006.
Biography
Salzano was nonreligious and came from a middle-class family. Then, she married Andrea Acutis in 1990, a member of Lazard Brothers. Since Acutis birth on 3 May 1991, Salzano was converted to Catholicism by interest, including how Acutis began asking questions about Sacraments: the Holy Trinity, the original sin, and the resurrection.
Following her son's death on 12 October 2006, Salzano was present with the rest of her family at his canonization, alongside Pier Giorgio Frassati, on 7 September 2025 in the Vatican City.
