Alena Kovačková


Alena Kovačková is a Czech tennis player. She has a career-high junior combined ranking of No. 8, achieved on 10 June 2024.

She has a younger sister Jana who is also tennis player.

Career

Junior career

Whilst ranked European number one in the U14s, Kovackova won the U16 title at the Tennis Europe Masters in Monte Carlo in October 2022. Later that year she became the first girl to win both the U14 and U16 "Player of the Year" awards in the same year.
In July 2023, she won the Wimbledon girls' doubles alongside compatriot Laura Samsonová. In the final, they faced Hannah Klugman and Isabelle Lacy of Great Britain, winning in straight sets. It was the first Czech pairing to win the title since Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková in 2013.
Defending the Wimbledon girls' doubles title alongside Samsonová in 2024, they lost in the quarterfinals to Mika Stojsavljevic and Mingge Xu.
She played in the girls' doubles at the 2025 Australian Open alongside her sister, Jana. They reached the semi finals where they lost to American twin sisters Kristina and Annika Penickova. However, they then defeated the American twins at the semi final stage of the following Grand Slam to reach the girls' doubles final at the 2025 French Open. They won the Girls' doubles at the 2025 US Open, winning the final against Laima Vladson of Lithuania and Belgian Jeline Vandromme in straight sets.
Alongside Jana, she won the girls' doubles at the 2026 Australian Open without dropping a set. In the final they beat fellow Czech pairing Tereza Heřmanová and Denisa Žoldáková, in the first all-Czech junior final.

Professional career

2024: First steps

In 2024 Kovačková played her first ITF main draw, reaching her first semifinal at her 3rd event in Sharm-El-Sheik, losing to Renáta Jamrichová. Alena reached another semifinal in her next event in Antalya.
In July Kovačková was awarded wildcard to compete at her first WTA event, losing in the first round of qualification during 2024 Prague Open to former champion Mona Barthel in straight sets.
In August Kovačková reached her 3rd and 4th singles semifinal at back-to-back events in Slovenia, losing to Pia Lovrič both times. Kovačková won her first and second doubles titles at those events.

2025: WTA main draw debut

In first months of 2025 Kovačková reached just one ITF quarterfial in singles but won another two titles, including her first title with younger sister Jana Kovačková and the biggest title of her career at 75k tournament in Česká Lípa with Ivana Šebestová.
In July Kovačková was awarded with wildcard to compete at WTA event at Prague Open again. This time she beat two former Top 100 players Arina Rodionova and Lucrezia Stefanini to make her WTA main draw debut at the age of 17.
