Al Sailiya
Al Sailiya is a district of Al Rayyan City in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Rayyan.
Etymology
The word sailiya is derived from the Arabic term sayl, which translates as "to flow". It gained this name from the fact that part of the district is situated in a rawda which acts as a floodplain.History
's wrote an account of Al Sailiya in 1908 in his Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf. He describes it as a "stage on the route from Hofuf to Dohah" and lies 13 miles south-west from Doha. He also remarked on the presence of a masonry well yielding good water.Landmarks
