Aeshnoidea is a superfamily of dragonflies that contains two extant families, Aeshnidae and Austropetaliidae.

The paracymatophlebiid †Sinocymatophlebia and the indeterminate aeshnoid †Propecymatophlebia Huang, Nel & Cai, 2017, known from the Middle Jurassic of China, represent the oldest known crown group dragonflies.
