3917 Franz Schubert
3917 Franz Schubert, provisional designation, is a bright background asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 5 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 15 February 1961, by astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Karl Schwarzschild Observatory in Tautenburg, Germany. The asteroid was named after Austrian composer Franz Schubert.
Orbit and classification
Franz Schubert is a non-family asteroid from the main belt's background population. It orbits the Sun in the inner main-belt at a distance of 2.3–2.4 AU once every 3 years and 7 months. Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.02 and an inclination of 2° with respect to the ecliptic.The body's observation arc begins with its official discovery observation at Tautenburg in February 1961.
