Chemical properties
Ytterbium hydroxide dissolves in acid to form a ytterbium salt:Ytterbium hydroxide is decomposed by heat, first forming YbO, and continuing to heat to obtain Yb2O3. It reacts with aluminum hydroxide oxide at 1400 °C to obtain Yb3Al5O12.
