The racial makeup was 66.8% White, 2.6% African American, 1.3% Native American, 2.7% Asian, 0.4% Pacific Islander, 11.1% from other races, and 15.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 26.8% of the population.The census reported that 99.6% of the population lived in households, 0.3% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 0.2% were institutionalized.
There were 7,840 households, out of which 33.8% included children under the age of 18, 49.3% were married-couple households, 7.6% were cohabiting couple households, 24.9% had a female householder with no partner present, and 18.2% had a male householder with no partner present. 20.5% of households were one person, and 9.8% were one person aged 65 or older.
