Vyetka district


Vyetka district or Vetka district is a district of Gomel region in Belarus. Its administrative center is Vyetka. As of 2024, it has a population of 17,109.

Geography

The district covers an area of and includes 139 settlements, of which only 82 are inhabited. The remaining 57 settlements are situated in the exclusion zone following the Chernobyl disaster, as the contaminated area was evacuated due to high radiation levels. The areas north and east of the city of Vetka fall within the evacuated zone, which extends all the way to the Russian border. Signs placed along the roads indicate the start of the zone boundary.
