Voltz JT
Nkosilathi Sibiya, known professionally as Voltz JT, is a Zimbabwean hip-hop artist, songwriter, and producer. He is recognized for pioneering the "jecha trap" sound, a fusion of drill music with the Shona language, and is noted for his socially conscious lyrics that reflect the realities of Zimbabwean youth.
Early life and education
Voltz JT was born in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe. He attended Sanyati Baptist High School and later pursued a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe, graduating in December 2022.Music career
Voltz JT began his music career in 2016 with the release of his first song, "Boys Rangu." By 2021, he had released two EPs: Power Moves, a collaboration with Kerposh, and Mayhem and Modies, his solo debut.He gained national attention with his track "These Days," which went viral for its commentary on the hardships faced by Zimbabwean youth. This was followed by "Nyaya Dzemari," addressing how money can cause rifts between friends. His collaboration with Holy Ten on "How Far" further solidified his presence in the Zimbabwean hip-hop scene.
In 2022, Voltz JT released his first studio album, Life of Muvhimi, through Mulanation Entertainment, featuring artists like Tamy Moyo and Dobba Don. The album was well-received for its storytelling and fusion of traditional Zimbabwean sounds with contemporary hip-hop.
In 2024, he released his second studio album N.O.P Makoni, through Painful Ent., which earned him seven nominations at the 2024 Zim Hip-Hop Awards, including Best Album and Song of the Year for "Mkoma Brian."
In 2025, he has released four singles, Crisis, Medzai Fridge, Cannabis ; and his latest track, Why Worry, in October 2025.
