Vic Matthews


Victor Charles Matthews is a British hurdler and decathlete who competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics.

Biography

Matthews finished third behind Les Pinder in the decathlon event at the 1953 [AAA Championships]. He finished runner-up to Gerald Brown at the 1956 AAA Championships but by virtue of being the highest placed athlete he was considered the British champion.
Matthews represented the England at [the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games|England athletics team] in the 120 yards hurdles at the 1958 British [Empire and Commonwealth Games] in Cardiff, Wales and at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he represented Great [Britain at the 1960 Summer Olympics|Great Britain] in the Athletics at the [1960 Summer Olympics – Men's 110 metres hurdles|men's 110 metres hurdles].
