Vanchi (early historic)


Vanchi was a headquarters of the Chera dynasty, which ruled central Kerala and western Tamil Nadu in the early historic south India. The location of Vanchi remains a matter of debate among historians. It is speculated that the site corresponded to the medieval Vanchi Karur, identified modern Karur, Tamil Nadu.
