Urera kaalae


Urera kaalae, commonly known as opuhe, is a species of flowering plant in the nettle family, Urticaceae, that is endemic to the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It inhabits slopes and gulches in mesic forests at elevations of. Currently it is restricted to the southern and central parts of the Waianae Mountains. Associated plants include maile, hame, Asplenium kaulfusii, Athyrium spp., āwikiwiki, pāpala, akoko, poolā, ēlama, Doryopteris spp., iei.e., manono, Hibiscus spp., olopua, māmaki, hala pepe, ālaa, kōpiko, heuhiuhi, aiai, ōpuhe, and maua. It is threatened by habitat loss.
