Uji Rashid

Fuziah binti Haroun Al Rashid also known as Uji Rashid is a Malaysian singer and actress. She is the most famous Malaysian female singer in 70s decade. Her duo title "Asmara Bergelora" with is the best selling song of 1977. Her name also become alternative name for kandaman fish that lives in Borneo Island.

Early life

Uji Rashid born from Bruneian-Malay family. She spend her basic education in Bandar Seri Begawan. She moved to Kuala Lumpur in late 1960s, joining sports and debate club in her highschool years.
One day, with her fellow Bruneian, Fauziah Nawi she try to join audition. Together with her friend, she managed to reach third place. Despite being in third place, Ahmad Nawab encourage her to pursue entertainment path.

Career

Jamil Sulong, a renowned Malaysian filmmakers and artist from Parit Sulong saw her potential. She is cast as the main Heroine in widely acclaimed film, "" with, Datuk Sani Abdullah and Yusof Haslam. In singing, she also reach wide acclaimed with her duo title "Asmara Bergelora" with. It is the best selling song of 1977 in Malaysia.
Her other famous role are: Jiwa Remaja, Menanti Hari Esok and Dendang Perantau.

Personal life

Uji Rashid married with Jamaluddin Jamil Harahap, a businessman from Batak region, Indonesia in 1978. Causing uproar among her fans, as they want her to be with. Together they have 2 child, Cico Harahap and Yazmeen. Uji Rashid retired in 2016 due to her son partial paralysis from septic shock.
