UNESA F.C.
Universitas Negeri Surabaya Football Club, simply known as UNESA FC, is an Indonesian football club based in Surabaya, East Java. Managed by the State University of Surabaya, they currently compete in the Liga 4 East Java Zone.
History
UNESA FC was established in 2023, originally under the name Kresna UNESA, as a collaboration between the university's sports faculty and local football stakeholders to provide a professional pathway for student-athletes. The club gained significant media attention for being the only university-owned team to compete in the Indonesian professional football pyramid in East Java.In 2024, the club officially changed its name to UNESA FC to align more closely with the university's branding. During the 2023–24 season, the club proved to be a "dark horse," successfully advancing to the Round of 16 in the East Java zone despite its squad being primarily composed of university students and local youth players.
The club operates with a scientific approach to football, utilizing the university's sports science facilities and data analytics for player development. Following the PSSI restructuring in 2024, UNESA FC was assigned to compete in Liga 4.
