Tushar Amrish Goel


Tushar Amrish Goel is an Indian film director and screenwriter, best known for writing and directing the Hindi film The Taj Story. He has stated that the film explores historical perspectives and questions glorified history rather than addressing religious belief.

Career

Goel made his feature film directorial debut with The Taj Story, a Hindi-language courtroom drama starring Paresh Rawal along with Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sneha Wagh and Namit Das.
He has clarified that the film is not based on the "Tejo Mahalaya" theory and described such interpretations as assumptions, stating that the project is a fictional narrative inspired by historical debates rather than a statement of belief.
Principal photography of The Taj Story lasted approximately 45 days and was shot at real locations including Dehradun and areas around the Taj Mahal in Agra, and the completion of the shoot was marked by a wrap celebration attended by the cast, crew, producer and the director.
In 2025, a promotional poster of the film triggered online controversy, following which the makers issued a disclaimer stating that the film does not deal with religious matters and focuses on its courtroom-driven narrative.
