Treason Act 1488

The Treason Act 1488 was an act of the Parliament of England passed in 1488. It made it high treason to counterfeit coinage from other countries. It was repealed by the Treason Act 1553 but the offence was created by another act passed later in the same year which recreated the offence, the Treason (No. 2) Act 1553.
The act was extended to Ireland by Poynings' Law 1495.
The whole act was repealed for England and Wales by section 1 of, and the schedule to, the Statute Law Revision Act 1863 and for Ireland by section 1 of, and the schedule to, the Statute Law (Ireland) Revision Act 1872.
