Antananarivo is connected to Toamasina, Ambatondrazaka and Antsirabe by rail, and another rail line connects Fianarantsoa to Manakara. The northern railway is concessioned to Madarail. The southern line, Fianarantsoa-Côte-Est railway, is a parastatal line.Waterways
