Malaga, California
Malaga is a census-designated place in Fresno County, California. It is located south-southeast of downtown Fresno, at an elevation of 295 feet. As of the 2020 census, Malaga had a population of 884.
History
The post office, originally named Tokay, opened in 1886 and was renamed Malaga later that year.The post office closed in 1964, and reopened in 1965.
The town was named for the Málaga grape.
Demographics
Malaga first appeared in the 2000 U.S. census under the name Calwa. It was renamed Malaga for the 2010 U.S. census as the original name was incorrectly used; and a new separate CDP named Calwa was created in Fresno County.2020 census
At the 2010 [United States Census|2010 census] Malaga had a population of 947. The population density was. The racial makeup of Malaga was 418 White, 12 African American, 15 Native American, 11 Asian, 2 Pacific Islander, 464 from other races, and 25 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 891 people.The whole population lived in households, no one lived in non-institutionalized group quarters and no one was institutionalized.
There were 241 households, 135 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 126 were opposite-sex married couples living together, 56 had a female householder with no husband present, 24 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 24 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 1 [same-sex partnerships|same-sex married couples or partnerships]. 31 households were one person and 17 had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 3.93. There were 206 families ; the average family size was 4.20.
The age distribution was 319 people under the age of 18, 116 people aged 18 to 24, 238 people aged 25 to 44, 182 people aged 45 to 64, and 92 people who were 65 or older. The median age was 27.9 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.5 males.

As of the census of 2000, there were 762 people, 208 households, and 177 families residing in Calwa. The population density was. There were 227 housing units at an average density of. The racial makeup of the community was 25.46% White, 0.92% Black or African American, 2.62% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 65.88% from other races, and 4.59% from two or more races. 94.62% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 208 households, out of which 44.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% were married couples living together, 22.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.9% were non-families. 9.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.66 and the average family size was 3.90.
The population was spread out, with 30.8% under the age of 18, 12.2% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 17.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.9 males.
