Properties
Tetraiodine nonoxide is a light yellow solid that can easily hydrolyze. It decomposes above 75 °C:Like diiodine tetroxide, tetraiodine nonoxide contains both I and I, and disproportionate to iodate and iodide under alkaline conditions:
