Telicota


Telicota is a genus of grass skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae. It is a tropical Asian genus, shared between the Indomalayan realm and the Australasian realm, and ranging from Sri Lanka to Australia and New Guinea. Larval foodplants include Palmae and Gramineae - Miscanthus sinensis, Pennisetum purpureum, Oryza sativa, Saccharum officinarum, Imperata cylindrica, Cocos nucifera and Calamus.
The species, all look very similar to each other and are often only reliably identifiable through the examination of the male genitalia.
