Subhash Zanak


Subhash Ramrao Zanak was an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress and a former member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He served as a Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development in the Government of Maharashtra.
He was a prominent political leader from the Vidarbha region and represented constituencies in Washim district for several terms.

Subhash Zanak was born in Washim district, Maharashtra. He was the son of Ramrao Zanak, who was also a politician and served as an MLA from the Medshi constituency. Subhash Zanak belonged to a politically active family and was associated with the Indian National Congress from an early age.

Member of Legislative Assembly

Subhash Zanak was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Medshi constituency in 1985. He was re-elected in 1990 and 1995.
After the delimitation of constituencies, he was elected as MLA from the Risod constituency in Washim district in the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Ministerial career

In 2008, Subhash Zanak was appointed as a Minister of State in the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. He later served as the Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development.
During his tenure, he worked on government programmes related to women empowerment, child welfare, and social development.

Personal life

Subhash Zanak was married and had two children. His son, Amit Subhashrao Zanak, is also a politician and later became a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Risod constituency.

Death

Subhash Zanak died on 28 October 2013 due to cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Akola. He was 55 years old at the time of his death.
His death resulted in a by-election in the Risod constituency, which was later won by his son.

He died on 28 October 2013 at Akola in a private hospital from cardiac arrest.
