Steve Patterson (journalist)


Steve Patterson is an American journalist based in Los Angeles, California currently working as a correspondent for NBC News. which he has been a part of since January 2016. He was previously a reporter at KYW, a CBS affiliate in the greater Philadelphia area.

Early life and education

Born in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Patterson attended North Farmington High School and graduated with in the class of 2003. From then on, he went to Michigan State University and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism.

Career

Patterson began his journalism career by joining CBS News as an intern for the CBS Evening News for 4 months and then moved to WLNS in Lansing, Michigan where he worked as a newsroom assistant/editor for 11 months.
He then moved to other affiliates as a reporter working at WZZM, KSDK an NBC affiliate in St. Louis, Missouri and at KYW in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His big break came when he landed in his big role at NBC News in January 2016 as a correspondent based in Los Angeles that he currently works at to this day.
Some big stories he covers in LA at NBC News include shootings, disasters, protests, wildfires, floods, and hurricanes.

Awards and recognition

Patterson earned an Emmy Award nomination during his time at WZZM.
