Stephanie Gricius


Stephanie Gricius is an American politician. She serves as a Republican member for the 50th district of the Utah House of Representatives where she began her service in January 2023.
Service is at the core of everything Stephanie Gricius has focused on with her family, faith, and community throughout her life. She began serving her community as a volunteer t-ball coach for the YMCA at age 14 and hasn’t stopped serving since. In 2014, Gricius saw a need in her community as the Utah Legislature debated relocating the state prison to Eagle Mountain and dedicated her time and energy to help lead the opposition. Gricius was then elected to the Eagle Mountain City Council in 2015 where she served until January 2020 when she took a step back to focus on her family of seven. During her time on the Council, she was at the forefront of bringing Facebook and Tyson Foods to Eagle Mountain, organized much needed fire fuels mitigation projects, supported removing red tape for small businesses, and attended Mountainland Association of Governments meetings to help ensure Eagle Mountain had a voice in how regional transportation dollars were spent. Gricius  also served as precinct chair  in her District of the Utah County Republican Party from 2016 until 2021 when she was elected as the Legislative District Chair for Utah House District 2. Currently, she works extensively with the youth in her church and focuses on non-profits benefiting children in foster care and women escaping domestic violence.
Gricius and her family moved to Eagle Mountain in 2010 where they currently reside with their five children, two dogs, seven ducks, and assortment of reptiles and small animals. As a foster family, they’ve opened their home and their hearts to children from hard places and balance the needs of those children with their own. Gricius loves traveling and learning about other cultures, hunting and shooting, water sports, relaxing with friends, crafting, and date nights with her husband.

Legislative Service

Stephanie Gricius began her legislative service in 2023 and has held the following positions:
*Vice-Chair: Social Services Appropriations Subcommittee – overseeing the largest area of the state budget.
*Chair: Administrative Rules Review and General Oversight Committee – overseeing proper implementation of laws passed by the legislature as well as general oversight of government.
*Chair: Judiciary Interim Committee – overseeing judicial policy and activities.
*Member: Health and Human Services Committee and the Government Operations Committee reviewing policy related to health and social servcices as well as elections and general government.
*Member: 2025 Legislative Redistricting Committee
*Gricius currently serves on the House of Representatives Majority Leadership Team as the House Majority Caucus Manager. She also sits on the boards for the Utah Lake Authority and Indigent Defense Commission.
*Outside of her House Majority duties, Gricius is currently the chair of the Sportsman's Caucus, Conservative Caucus, and the Utah County Caucus.
Gricius passed the first ban on adding hydrofluorosilicic acid to drinking water in the nation while at the same time deregulating fluoride tablets through the pharmacies. Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., made Utah his first official stop as Secretary to celebrate the passage of the fluoride legislation.
Gricius has also passed several bills directly impacting the people of District 50. In 2025, she was the House sponsor for SB188 which required Alpine School District to bond for the new High School being built in Saratoga Springs that will serve students in the new Lake Mountain School District. It also simplified the division of assets between the new districts and created a process where the new west district would be treated fairly and not be forced to subsidize the other areas.
She also modified how population data is calculated for the purposes of tax and transportation funding distribution. Prior to the passing of this bill, money was distributed based on census data, which is rear facing and always lags by several years. Under the new policy state data, which is more responsive to the extreme growth being experienced in the district, is used as the primary data source. This gave Eagle Mountain City a significant bump in population numbers which has a positive impact on the amount of money the area will receive for roads and other things.
