Siliguri Government Polytechnic is a government polytechnic located in Siliguri, Darjeeling district, West Bengal.
History
Formation
The college was formed in the year 1995, known as Women's Polytechnic, Siliguri, for promoting female education in West Bengal under the assistance of World Bank Project. The college was inaugurated by Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, the then Minister of Information and Culture of West Bengal.Shifting to Permanent Campus
The college was established temporarily in Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri, before permanently shifting to a campus in Dabgram, situated in Subhas Pally, in the year 1998. The permanent campus was inaugurated by Jyoti Basu, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal.Co-Ed Status
In 2005, the college was renamed as Siliguri Government Polytechnic College, thereby forming a co-educational institution.About college
