Shanghai (radio serial)

Shanghai is a 1936 radio serial by Edmund Barclay. It ran for 26 weeks.
It was reportedly based on the experiences of Barlcay's father in India and followed on the success of Barclay's earlier serial, Khyber.
The serial was very popular and Barclay later adapted it into a novel, published by Angus and Robertson in 1937. The Bulletin described it as "Love and adventure in the Far East. Shaio Pao, the Lily, a Chinese princess, is the figure of mystery. Jerry, a second mate, and Ursula, a medical missioner, are the couple who glimpse each other at the beginning and are tied together at the end. The writer knows his job. "
