Production
It was Dmytryk's first film for RKO. The movie was originally meant to be directed by Al Rogell. Filming took place between 4–21 August 1942.Dmytryk called it " Nazi shenanigans in a lighthouse. Good for experimenting with techniques, and I was getting damned sick of it. But at least I was in new territory."
