Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University of Jhargram
Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University, also known as Jhargram University, is a public state university in Jhargram, West Bengal. The university was established in 2017 as Jhargram University under The Jhargram University Act, 2017. In 2021, it was renamed as Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University. This university offers courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
History
Jhargram University was founded in 2018 under "The Jhargram University Act, 2017," with its campus at Jitusol inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on August 9, 2018. In 2021, the university's name was changed to Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University of Jhargram in tribute to Santali poet Sadhu Ramchand Murmu through "The Jhargram University Act, 2021". This university became active with the appointment of the first vice-chancellor, Amiya Kumar Panda, in 2021.
