She was launched on 4 October 1910 and completed shortly afterwards in November.SinkingHarpalion was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel 6.5 miles west of the Royal Sovereign Lightship by the German submarine SM U-8 on 24 February 1915 with the loss of three of the crew. The loss of the ship was mentioned in The Times. At the time, Harpalion was sailing without cargo from London to Cape Henry.
