SDMX
Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange is a set of technical standards designed to describe statistical data and metadata, normalise their exchange, and improve their efficient sharing across statistical and similar organisations. It is published as '''ISO 17369.'''
Development
The standards were developed by international initiative that aims at standardising and modernising the mechanisms and processes for the exchange of statistical data and metadata among international organisations and their member countries.The SDMX sponsoring institutions are the Bank for International Settlements, the European Central Bank, Eurostat, the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations Statistics Division, and the World Bank.
These organisations are the main players at world and regional levels in the collection of official statistics in a large variety of domains.
Version history
Version 1.0 of the SDMX standard was recognised as an ISO standard in 2005.SDMX version 2.1 was released in May 2011, and was approved by ISO as International Standard in 2013.
SDMX version 3.0 was published in September 2021.
