Demographics

According to the 2022 Bangladeshi census, Ruma Upazila had 7,318 households and a population of 32,533. 12.00% of the population were under 5 years of age. Ruma had a literacy rate of 50.26%: 59.30% for males and 40.35% for females, and a sex ratio of 108.75 males for every 100 females. 7,769 lived in urban areas.
