Rozali Ismail
Tan Sri Rozali Bin Ismail is a Malaysian businessman. He is the founder and executive chairman of Puncak Niaga Holdings Berhad. Rozali also served as the executive chairman of Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor and the president of the .
Puncak Niaga
Rozali founded Puncak Niaga in 1997 and worked with Selangor politicians to establish public-private partnerships and promote a three-state water treatment scheme in the region. Puncak Niaga was the parent company of SYABAS. In October 2015, both companies were taken over by the Selangor State Government. In 2018, Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor filed a lawsuit against SYABAS, claiming RM 4.22 billion in outstanding receivables. Tan Gim Tuan, chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Association, stated that SYABAS had been reporting substantial annual losses since the takeover. He further warned that the lawsuit could potentially lead to state-level financial instability.Leadership roles
Rozali has held multiple positions throughout his career. He served as the president of the Water Association of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya, and as the deputy president of the Malaysian Water Association. He was also the treasurer of the United Malays National Organisation Selangor and the UMNO Hulu Selangor Division and represented the State of Selangor at the Malay Chamber of Commerce.Rozali also serves as an advisor to Sultan Idris Shah Polytechnic. He is the chairman of Gabungan Wawasan Generasi Felda, a coalition of 14 non-governmental organisations that advocate for Felda settlers and their families, which is estimated to number around 600,000 people nationwide. In 2017, Rozali was called upon to provide clarification regarding a RM 200 million land sale involving Felda property on Jalan Semarak. In 2018, he announced GWGF's continued support for the Barisan Nasional coalition and the United Malays National Organization during Malaysia's 14th general election.
Rozali's salary as executive chairman of SYABAS was reported to be RM 33.4 million in 2012. This high salary and poor water service performance of SYABAS in Selangor has drawn public criticism.
