Romanian Figure Skating Championships

The Romanian Figure Skating Championships are an annual figure [skating competition] organized by the Romanian Skating Federation to crown the List of [figure skating competitions|national champions] of Romania. The first national championships were held in 1924 in Bucharest and featured events in figure skating, speed skating, and ice hockey. Early competitions were periodically interrupted due to unfavorable weather conditions, as skating events were held outdoors and depended on lakes or rinks being suitably frozen. No competitions were held from 1941 to 1945 or from 1947 to 1948 due to World War II. Since 2000, the Romanian Championships have occasionally been held in conjunction with the Crystal Skate of Romania, the marquee figure skating competition of Romania. The top Romanian competitors at this international competition are recognized as the Romanian national champions. In 2024, the Romanian Junior Championships were held in conjunction with the EduSport Trophy.
Medals are awarded in men's and women's singles at the senior and junior levels, although not every discipline may be held every year due to a lack of participants. Romania has not seen competition in pair skating since 1993. Cornel Gheorghe holds the record for winning the most Romanian Championship titles in men's singles, Roxana Luca holds the record in women's singles, and Irina Timcic and Alfred Eisenbeisser hold the record in pair skating.
