Glattfelden is a municipality in the district of Bülach in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland, and belongs to the Glatt Valley.
History
Glattfelden is first mentioned in 1130 as Glatevelden.Geography
Glattfelden has an area of. Of this area, 47.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 32.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 17.5% is settled and the remainder is non-productive.The municipality includes the village of Glattfelden, located at the end of the Glatt valley, the communities of Zweidlen, Schachen and Rheinsfelden and the exclave of Neuhaus.
Demographics
Glattfelden has a population of. , 18.3% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 18.1%. Most of the population speaks German , with Italian being second most common and Albanian being third.In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 47.9% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the Social [Democratic Party of Switzerland|SPS], the Christian [Social Party (Switzerland)|CSP] and the Green Party.
The age distribution of the population is children and teenagers make up 26.1% of the population, while adults make up 62.9% and seniors make up 11%. In Glattfelden about 70.5% of the population have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education.

Transportation
Glattfelden is served by two railway stations:- Glattfelden railway station is a stop of the Zurich S-Bahn, a 29 minute ride from Zürich Hauptbahnhof. The station lies about east from the village, and has been built on territory belonging to the neighbor city of Bülach.
- Zweidlen railway station, on the other hand, is located on the territory of the municipality, but is some to the west of the village. It is served by Zurich S-Bahn line S36, which connects Bülach with Koblenz and does not directly serve Zurich.
