• The International Committee of the Red Cross, is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. It takes action in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its implementation in national law. It is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
• The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is an international membership organization that unites 191 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and supports them through a global secretariat. The IFRC acts before, during and after disasters and health emergencies to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people. It is also based in Geneva, Switzerland.
• The 191 individual National Societies of the ′International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies′, which despite the name includes the Red Star of David Society in Israel.
