Perceived contrast in complex images

Perceived contrast in complex images is a scholarly work by Eli Peli, published in 2013 in ''Journal of Vision''. The main subjects of the publication include psychophysics, image quality, contrast, independent events, visual perception, spatial frequency, psychology, color constancy, perception, luminance, mathematics, optics, and artificial intelligence. The authors found that the overall contrast of an image is disproportionately determined by how much contrast is between 1 and 6 c/°, around the peak of the contrast sensitivity function (CSF).
