The main subjects of the publication include osmotic shock, Phyllanthus, biology, size-exclusion chromatography, in vitro experiment, bovine serum albumin, osmolarity, osmotic pressure, biochemistry, chemistry, peptidase, albumins, enzyme, enzyme assay, enzyme activator, Calotropis procera, proteases, and proteolysis. Since earlier work had demonstrated activation of the synthase by adding exogenous proteases, it is likely that this in vitro activation was due to protease activity in the homogenate.
