Plot
'''Part 1: The Seeds of Deception and Professional Rivalry Turned Reconciliation'''
The story introduces two brilliant psychology students, Kanmani and Shalini, who are both academic toppers. Initially, they are fierce rivals, with Shalini, from a wealthy family, harboring intense jealousy towards Kanmani, who consistently outshines her, even if by a small margin. Their competitive animosity escalates into a public fight, prompting the college correspondent to intervene. To restore order and bring repute to the college, the correspondent assigns them a crucial task: to arrange for a renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Sathyamoorthy, to visit the college and conduct an interactive orientation for students. This assignment sets in motion the entire chain of events.
Driven by this task, Kanmani reaches out to her Facebook friend, an alias she knows as "Rohit." Unbeknownst to her, "Rohit" is the much older Sathyamoorthy, who uses this fake profile to stalk young women online. This initial interaction marks the first physical meeting between Kanmani and Sathyamoorthy at the college, even though Kanmani remains completely oblivious to his true identity as her online confidant.
Sathyamoorthy spends a week at the college, interacting with students and conducting lessons. During this period, displaying his manipulative charm and ostensibly acting in his professional capacity, he skillfully reconciles Kanmani and Shalini. He leverages his authority and psychological understanding to smooth over their animosity, a move driven less by genuine concern for their friendship and more by his escalating obsession with Kanmani. By reconciling them, he subtly removes a source of potential distraction or conflict for Kanmani, making her more accessible to his influence.
'''Part 2: Dr. Sathyamoorthy's Twisted Web of Obsession and Kanmani's Discovery'''
Sathyamoorthy, a successful psychiatrist nearing 50, leads a disturbing double life. While professionally respected, he secretly engages in online stalking, using fake profiles like "Rohit" to ensnare young women. Kanmani becomes his primary target. Their "lovey-dovey" online chats continue, with Kanmani genuinely believing she is communicating with a young peer.Kanmani, deeply influenced by "Rohit's" promises of helping her pursue higher studies in the UK, decides to leave her family's arranged marriage plans and travel to Chennai to meet him. When she is inevitably stood up by her "young" chat friend, Sathyamoorthy conveniently appears. He plays the role of a benevolent stranger, offering her shelter in his palatial bungalow and driving her in his plush car, all while she innocently believes he is helping her find her "real" lover, who she thinks is in some emergency.
During this period, Sathyamoorthy keeps Kanmani under constant, creepy surveillance, tracking her every move. He never openly expresses his affection, meticulously maintaining his façade of a helpful benefactor. As Kanmani's hope of finding "Rohit" dwindles and she prepares to return home, Sathyamoorthy plays his trump card: he "surprises" her with UK visa papers and a substantial cheque, seemingly to fulfill her dream of studying abroad. This act solidifies his psychological control over her.
The turning point for Kanmani comes during a visit to the hospital where Sathyamoorthy works. One day, Kanmani visits the hospital to see Sathyamoorthy while he is giving an interview to the media. During this time, Soori, Sathyamoorthy's assistant, accidentally crashes Sathyamoorthy's iPad without his knowledge. Kanmani, with her tech skills, is the one who helps Soori fix the iPad. It is during this process that she inadvertently discovers the incriminating chats with "Rohit" and instantly recognizes the disturbing pattern and the true identity of her online friend. This horrifying revelation exposes Sathyamoorthy's deep deception and his true, obsessive nature.
'''Part 3: Arjun's Parallel Suffering, The Alliance, and The Deception Game'''
Parallel to Kanmani's ordeal, the film introduces Arjun, a software professional. Arjun, serving as the HR of his company, was deeply impressed by Maya's loyalty and commitment to work during her interview. He was so taken by her dedication that he offered her a job. His admiration quickly grew into love, and he eventually proposed to her. Maya accepted, and they developed an intimate relationship.During an important company meeting led by Arjun, he gets late to the office on the day of a crucial presentation, but Maya skillfully delivers the presentation, impressing everyone. She humbly credited her success to Arjun, further solidifying his love for her.
However, their romance takes a devastating turn when Kishore, a member from another company attending the interview, is highly impressed by Maya's presentation. Recognizing her talent, he offers her a lucrative opportunity to work for him at a Mumbai-based corporate company. Maya, portrayed as money-minded, readily accepts the offer. She abruptly breaks up with Arjun, dismissively stating they were merely in a "situationship." This devastating rejection plunges Arjun into a severe depression. Even his parents attempt to reach out to Maya, but she coldly refuses to engage, moving on with her new opportunity.
Arjun is deeply affected by a painful breakup with Maya. This emotional trauma leads him into a severe depression and, consequently, drug addiction. Seeking professional help, Arjun begins consulting with Sathyamoorthy, who is simultaneously manipulating Kanmani. This is a crucial intersection point; Sathyamoorthy, while treating Arjun, unknowingly becomes the catalyst for his own eventual downfall.
Once Kanmani discovers Sathyamoorthy's true colors, she immediately shares the incident with Shalini. Despite their past rivalry, the gravity of the situation and perhaps Sathyamoorthy's earlier "reconciliation" efforts forge a bond of trust. Shalini, recognizing the danger, becomes Kanmani's staunch ally in her plan to expose Sathyamoorthy.
Knowing that Sathyamoorthy is tracking her every move, Kanmani uses this to her advantage. She deliberately informs Sathyamoorthy that she is going to meet "Rohit." This is a calculated move to confirm his tracking and to draw him out. As Sathyamoorthy follows her, Shalini steps in and pretends to be "Rohit" to further confuse him. This elaborate charade aims to throw Sathyamoorthy off balance and make him question if Kanmani truly knows his identity or if he is being played. However, Sathyamoorthy, being a master manipulator himself, eventually discovers Shalini's deception, escalating his anger and determination to eliminate Kanmani.
It is at this critical juncture that Kanmani becomes aware of Arjun's existence. Sathyamoorthy, in his arrogance or a slip of his manipulative facade, discusses Arjun's case with Kanmani, or Kanmani, knowing his game, deliberately probes him about his patients. This provides Kanmani with vital information about Arjun's vulnerability.
'''Part 4: The Climax: A Desperate Fight for Survival'''
Knowing Sathyamoorthy's true nature, Kanmani, despite her fear, decides to act. She approaches Arjun and, through persistence and undeniable proof, reveals Sathyamoorthy's true, manipulative colors to him. She convinces Arjun that Sathyamoorthy is not a benevolent doctor but a dangerous predator who intends to harm her and is exploiting Arjun's fragile mental state for his own ends. With his secrets thoroughly exposed, Sathyamoorthy sees Kanmani as an immediate threat that must be eliminated. He decides to use Arjun's depression as an opportunity to frame him or involve him in the act of killing Kanmani.
The climax unfolds in Shalini's guest house, where Kanmani, Arjun, and Shalini are likely seeking refuge or planning their next move. Sathyamoorthy, having discovered Shalini's involvement and their location, directly attacks Kanmani. A desperate, brutal struggle ensues.
During the chaotic confrontation, Arjun heroically attempts to save Kanmani. In the ensuing struggle, Kanmani finds herself precariously dangling from the 5th floor of the building. Arjun, despite his own physical and emotional struggles, manages to hold onto her, preventing her from falling.
However, Sathyamoorthy, in his desperate attempt to attack Kanmani further or retrieve her, also loses his balance. In his uncontrolled descent, he grabs Kanmani's leg in a futile attempt to regain his footing, but it is not enough. Arjun pulls Kanmani to safety, while Sathyamoorthy plummets from the building.
Miraculously, Sathyamoorthy does not die. Instead, he sustains severe injuries that result in complete memory loss, rendering him a patient himself.
