NGC 3244
NGC 3244 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Antlia. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is 3068 ± 22km/s, which corresponds to a Hubble distance of. However, 10 non-redshift measurements give a closer distance of. It was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel on 22 April 1835.
One supernova has been observed in NGC 3244. SN 2010ev was discovered by
CHASE and by the Brazilian Supernovae Search on 27 June 2010. With a peak apparent magnitude of about 14, it was the third-brightest supernova observed in 2010.
