NGC 1015

NGC 1015 is a barred spiral galaxy, at a distance of 118 million light years in the constellation of Cetus. It was discovered by German astronomer Wilhelm Tempel on 27 December 1875.

Supernova

One supernova has been observed in NGC 1015. SN 2009ig was discovered by the Lick Observatory Supernova Search on 20 August 2009. It got as bright as magnitude 13, making it the brightest supernova of 2009.
