Motozintla


Motozintla is a Settlement [classification in Mexico|city] and municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas in southern Mexico.
Motozintla occupies part of Mexico's border with Guatemala and is adjacent to the municipalities of Siltepec, Escuintla and Huixtla, Tuzantán and Tapachula, and Mazapa [de Madero] and El [Porvenir, Chiapas|El Porvenir]. It covers an area of 782.5 km2.
As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 69,119, up from 59,875 as of 2005.
The municipality had 416 localities, the largest of which were: Motozintla de Mendoza, classified as urban, and Belisario [Domínguez, Chiapas|Belisario Domínguez], classified as rural.
