Microimage
Microimage is a Sri Lankan-founded proprietary software company that specializes in Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions and media broadcasting software. Established in the mid-1990s as a high school startup, it has since evolved into a global provider of digital HR solutions under the brand MiHCM and broadcasting technology under the subsidiary Futura Tech Labs. The company is a long-standing Microsoft Independent Software Vendor partner.
History
Microimage was founded by Harsha Purasinghe and a group of fellow students in 1993 as a hobbyist club while they were still in school. The venture was formally incorporated as Microimage Ltd in 1995. The company's initial success came from developing local language software, specifically Sinhala fonts and localization tools, which allowed computers to process local languages before standardized Unicode support was widely available. In the 2000s, the company expanded its portfolio to include Human Resource Information Systems and broadcasting automation. In 2013, Microimage spun off its mobile and media division into a separate entity to better focus on its distinct product lines.
As the company began to expand globally, particularly into the ASEAN region, it rebranded its core HR business. In early 2019, the HR arm of the company, previously known as Microimage HCM, was rebranded as MiHCM. In 2022, the media and broadcasting arm, Microimage Mobile Media, was rebranded as Futura Tech Labs and opened a headquarters in Singapore.
