Michael Carbonara is an American business executive and political candidate who is the chief executive officer and founder of Ibanera, a fintech banking platform. He is a Republican candidate in the 2026 election for the United States House of Representatives, seeking to represent Florida's 25th congressional district.
Biography
Carbonara attended high school in upstate New York before enrolling at Ulster County Community College, where he graduated with an associate degree in business administration.Carbonara founded Ibanera in 2017, a fintech company that provides cross-border payments, currency conversion, and digital banking services. Partnered with Cross River Bank, the company raised $18.5 million in capital funding in 2023. He founded Gattaca Genomics in 2024.
In May 2025, Carbonara declared his candidacy for the 2026 election for the Republican nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida's 25th congressional district. The seat is currently held by Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz., Carbonara's campaign raised nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency.
