Mesembrenone
Mesembrenone is an alkaloid constituent of Sceletium tortuosum and minor constituent of Lampranthus aureus and Lampranthus spectabilis.
Similar to modern synthetic antidepressants, it is a potent selective inhibitor of the serotonin transporter and also a phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor.
